Rooster Teeth Shutting Down After 21 Years

Rooster Teeth is the studio creator of Red Verse Blue, The Halo Show, and many others. They will be shutting down after 21 years it was owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Jordan Levin says on shutting Rooster Teeth

“Since inheriting ownership and control of Rooster Teeth from AT&T following its acquisition of TimeWarner, Warner Bros. Discovery continued its investment in our company, content and community. It’s with a heavy heart I announce that Rooster Teeth is shutting down due to challenges facing digital media resulting from fundamental shifts in consumer behavior and monetization across platforms, advertising, and patronage,” wrote Jordan Levin, the general manager of Rooster Teeth.

Levin also wrote “Every story reaches its final pages. Rooster Teeth’s closure isn’t merely an end; it reflects broader business dynamics. Monetization shifts, platform algorithms, advertising challenges, and the ebb and flow of patronage, all these converging factors have led to many closures in the industry,”

Rooster Teeth created a channel on YouTube when YouTube was very new for everyone. Since that time Rooter Teeth has been popular, they used to upload content like comedy, Animation, and Gaming on that channel. For some years Rooster Teeth was dying as a YouTube Channel and people started tuning out. To get more money out of their videos they pulled out some of many of their videos from YouTube and pushed it on their website.

Rooster Teeth was one of the pillars of internet content creation for gaming for a long time. After shutting down, the Roost Podcast Network, which has more than 80 podcasts, will remain in operation, as Waren Bros Discovery looks interested in acquiring the network. Additional shows such as Red vs Blue and RWBY remain in discussion the company said.

The Clouser of this gaming studio will lay off 150 employees who were full time and many other employees who were on contract will also be impacted on their source of income. Wishing the employees the best moving forward and hope they get the jobs elsewhere.

For about 5 years they have been really on a downtrend and treading water, they were struggling and they have got no water winkies to help if you look in the Social Blade one of the websites that analyzes YouTube channel traffic, we can see the view was stagnant and got declined later. In 2021 they had an average of 8 to 10 million views whereas on their good days, the same views were approximately they were pulling 10 million views per month.
